Product detailed description
The new Kenya Thirikwa from the Kirinyaga region stands out with its sweet notes of raspberry, dried date, and molasses. It is full-bodied yet clean and juicy on the palate, with a nice balance of acidity. It is best brewed as a filter coffee, as this brings out its fruitiness.
This coffee is processed at the Gakuyuini processing station, where farmers from the Thirikwa cooperative bring hand-picked cherries harvested at an altitude of around 1,640 meters above sea level. Like most of Kenya's premium coffees, it is washed — the entire process uses clean river water, which is recycled.
The coffee consists of the traditional Kenyan varieties SL28, SL34, and Batian, which were bred specifically for local conditions.
